The Recycling of the English River - Recycling for a Healthy Future

The Recycling of the English River - Recycling for a Healthy Future

Marine Recycling Corporation (MRC), one of the many environmentally friendly, sustainable initiatives I am taking to promote a health environment and in turn a healthy community is being recycled on land for the first time at Marine Recycling Corporation.

The first and smallest of 3 ships to be mechanically removed from the water is out, high and dry.

The English River took longer than planned, however Jordan, MRC President and crew took the time to learn and fully understand the concept. They actually turned the ship about 10 degrees, so when it is rolled the last 700 feet onto the shore, it will be exactly where we want her.

The next vessel is planned to be placed right behind the English River (the Sarah Spencer Barge), then the third ship alongside the first two, approximately 1000 feet from the waters edge.

As the pictures will show, part of what we learned was to re-configure our approach ramp leaving the water, to experience the most lift possible with the air bags and be more efficient.

If you are interested in the environmentally friendly recycling and reuse of vessels that have reached the end of their life, you can find more information at MRC’s website, along with our group of environmentally responsible companies.
