New and Exciting Things Happening at Marine Recycling Corporation

New and Exciting Things Happening at Marine Recycling Corporation

Marine Recycling Corporation (MRC) was just awarded a contract on Canada’s West coast to remove a sunken vessel off the coast Vancouver. Another contract was awarded to remove a car/passenger ferry from the St. Lawrence River to the MRC Port Colborne site. The tow from Quebec is expected to be underway within two weeks and arrive in Port Colborne approximately 7 days later, under tow with two tugs.

MRC will prepare the vessel for towing before departure, approximately 7 days of work before inspections by Transport Canada. The Marine Warranty Survey will be completed as well as a Naval Architect report on the stability, safe condition and trim to tow the vessel to Port Colborne. There are two sets of locks for the tow to transit one at Montreal, QC and one at Welland, ON. The MRC riding crew and manager in tow will be aboard the dead ship to manage the tow in the locks.

We await the results of several jobs in Maritime Canada, as MRC has bid on several contracts, including two large commercial vessels and a sunken vessels project around the Maritimes. One more way MRC is helping to preserve the environment we have, by removing abandoned or out of service vessels from Canada’s beautiful waters.

Lots of action on the water!
